Ora et Labora Work Day for Young Adults

Ora et Labora day for young adults

When: Saturday, May 13th, 2017 from 9:30 A.M., until 5:00 P.M.
Where: Saint Mary’s Parish Convent (600 N. Liberty Street; Independence, MO 64050)

Why? Labor Mariae is a new community of semi-contemplative traditional religious Sisters who will be living in the convent at Saint Mary’s Parish. The floor which will be used for the convent has been used for storage space for the last 15 years, so some work is needed to prepare it for the Sisters. We need to clean and paint rooms in the convent and affix curtain rods and curtains; and we need to prepare the chapel by moving out furniture, cleaning the room, painting the walls, and then moving in the proper furniture.

9:30 A.M. Arrival and beginning of work
12:00 Noon Lunch break (lunch provided)
Then return to work
2:30 P.M. Time for conversation and reflection with Father Matthew Bartulica, Pastor of Saint Mary’s Parish, and Sister M. Regina, superior of the Labor Mariae Sisters about Our Lady of Fatima, about religious life, and whatever else you wish to speak about.
3:30 P.M. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament (followed by silent adoration)
4:15 P.M. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
4:30 P.M. Praying of the Holy Rosary (led by parishioners)
5:00 P.M. Holy Mass (Extraordinary Form) for the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima
(also fulfills the Sunday obligation)

TO BRING: We need lots of people to paint, so please bring clothes in which you can do that (and a change of clothes for the afternoon activities).
